About Us
At Janie Elizabeth Dance, we offer exciting dance classes for children who are looking to dance for fun - without exams or competitions. There are opportunities to dance and perform at local public events and shows for those that wish to take part. We also offer holiday clubs in the school holidays with different themes including TikTok, Princesses, K-Pop Demon Hunters plus much more!
Our classes are led by owner and principal dance teacher Janie, alongside our dedicated teacher Lauren. Our passion and love for dance comes across in our teaching, where we encourage children to develop their dance skills in a fun and friendly environment. This warm and welcoming atmosphere allows children to build new friendships and feel like they are part of a dance community. Through attending our weekly classes, children will not only develop their dance abilities but will also build upon other aspects such as fitness, self-esteem and confidence.
All abilities are welcome, whether you have had previous dance training or if you just enjoy dancing around the house!

Meet the Teachers
Janie Linklater
Janie is the owner and main dance teacher at Janie Elizabeth Dance. Janie has been dancing since she was 4 years old, training in many dance styles and then going on to gain a degree in Dance at University. Since graduating, Janie has worked as a freelance dance teacher teaching in a variety of settings including schools, dance studios, performing arts companies and community groups. Her choreography has featured in shows, productions and performances across the North East and North Yorkshire. Janie's dream had always been to set up her own dance company and in 2018 she set up Janie Elizabeth Dance with the aim to provide fun and friendly local dance classes for all ages and abilities.
Lauren Micklewright
Lauren joined us in 2024 after graduating with a first class degree in Musical Theatre. With a real passion for performing and a fantastic amount of energy, she brings enthusiasm and positivity to every class. Lauren mainly teaches our older groups on Saturday mornings, helping our dancers build their confidence, technique and performance skills. She also loves being involved behind the scenes, supporting our shows and stepping in to cover classes when needed. A huge musical theatre fan, Lauren is happiest when she's singing and dancing! We're delighted to have her as part of our teaching team.
